This document describes how to use the Texture importer/exporter.
Needed Tools
If you want to edit textures, you will need a program that can save images as a Dxt1 texture. Paint.NET is free and provides that functionality. Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro may also either support it natively or have plugins that enable Dxt1 saving.
Opening the Texture Importer/Exporter
Start the SOALEditor program, and select File > Open > Texture File.
A dialog window will then appear, prompting you to select a texture file. Texture files
are stored with one of the extensions .sml, .mld, .mll, or .mlk.
After opening a texture file, a texture editing window appears:

Select File > Save to save your changes to the opened texture file.
Exporting a Dxt1 texture using Paint.NET:
If you open an image file in Paint.NET and want to save it out as a Dxt1 texture so that you can import it using the SOALEditor, follow these simple steps.
First, select File > Save As... from the menu. In the "Save As Type" combo box, select the DirectDraw Surface entry.
